Muella Scale Models is located in Jacksonville, North Carolina which dates back to the time of the Civil War with many historical buildings still to be found. Many type buildings which are portrayed only in drawings and paintings still can be found on the byways of North Carolina and provide much inspiration for rural type structures. Muella Scale Models designs and manufactures model railroad structures and accessories in polyurethane resin. All building patterns are made from basswood and as such incorporate the exact grain and texture in the finished casting. Our molds are de-aired and are free from bubbles and defects. We use a high grade polyurethane resin and mold release and together, eliminate the need to pre-wash castings prior to painting and finishing. The castings are UV stable and are suitable outdoors in most environments. All kits include picture and complete finishing and weathering instructions. Once the master pattern is ready a de-aired silicone rubber mold is made and the part is then cast. The finished casting is, in most cases, indistinguishable from injection type molded products. Parts can then be drilled, tapped, sanded, sawed etc., and painted with the numerous variety of products on the market.
All models shown on this site are made entirely of polyurethane resin and have no wood except for a ridge pole used in the larger buildings. All kits include detailed assembly instructions, the particular way the model was finished and a color picture to be used as a reference.
